A public park owned by Milwaukee County Parks located between the Shops at Grand Avenue and Wisconsin Electric. Home of the Westown Famer's Market on Wednesdays during the summer and fall and the Labor Day festivities each year. In the 1960’s, the site was renamed Carl F. Zeidler Park in honor of the former Mayor. Carl Zeidler, a Milwaukee born and educated lawyer, who became the City’s 33rd mayor in 1940 when he defeated Daniel Hoan. Zeidler Union Square came into being in 1995 when the County Board renamed the park to recognize the contributions of the labor movement in Milwaukee County’s history. The Milwaukee County Labor Council AFL-CIO constructed a new gazebo/bandstand within the park at that time.
